production log day 3- filming 10/11/11

A group and I went filming in the Horninglow area. In the morning we had 5 interviews and in the afternoon we had 1 interview. Most of the interviews consist of conversations such as the Kingfisher project which involves volunteers going out to centres and making places appear better.

I had two little jobs, the job in the morning was to interview the 5 people. I did struggle to come up with some questions to suit Trent and Dove but I managed to stay calm and make a good job of it. In the afternoon I did the job of lighting the interviewer and packing the equipment away.

Trent and Dove day 2- filming 09/11/11

Today we went filming interviews in  college. We filmed 11 interviews altogether, some of the interviewers told's me some street names that need improving and also named community centres and pubs that have been wrecked. Other interviewers didn't give us much information such as the area they were talking about or didn't talk about the area as much.

My job for this was to sort the lighting out when the interviewer was sat down. While they were having the interview I was writing down the streets they were talking about and after they had done I got information such as name, age, location and a way I could contact them for further filming.

Trent and Dove- day 1, 03/11/11- filming

Today I went filming in Winshall in the morning and Stapenhill for the afternoon.

When I arrvied in the Winshall location I was welcomed by all of the Trent and Dove team, I was shocked by how many people came to us for a interview and it also suprised me on how postive people made Winshall to be. I learnt that they are people that are trying to get the 'youths' have something to do and somewhere to go, For example there is a group called 'Winshall wishes' that have been trying to get the creative minds flowing. The only problem I have with the Winshall location was that it was to hot and it was a small room.

Stapenhill was alot more quiter and slower then the Winshall for the interviewers as we only had two people come in and explain to us what the main problems were in the areas they live in. We had one interviewer that was good and who could name streets that could be inprovied but they were older the age range we were hoping for.

In this production I was the Producer, there were a few problems at the start such as I was unsure what I should be doing but as the day went on I started to understand my role properly.

Production Log, Editing Heritage- 13/10/11

My starting point of the edit would be question two, I went through the whole answer from the interviewer and cut out the bits that I thought was not needed and I still managed to make the footage follow suit with each other.

The one problem I did come across was the sync between the sound and the footage off the second camera I could not figure out a way to sync it all up. it annoyed me but me class mate helped me.

I am happy with the layout of question 2 and think that not much else is needed, they is not many cutaways because I left a gap for the 1st camera.

Production Log- editing heritage- 07/10/2011

I was editing with my fellow class mate on the Rudy interview. We worked as a team and agreed on most things, but there was a little problem with the cut a ways footage as her legs where not the same as the interview and some of the cut a ways didn't suit to what Rudy was saying but we worked it out where is best to fit in the cutaways we got.

We have not finished editing the interview yet but we have completed the first of her questions which I felt there is plenty of information in which people can learn from that.

Production Log- Trent and Dove, editing Tutbury- 06/10/2011

I am currently editing at home on 'MoviePlus' editing software. I knew in my head how I wanted the promo to look but when I looked over my footage I found out that I could do more such as point more areas out that would be needing more work. The edit  is not finished yet but im aiming for it to be completed by Saturday the 9th.

My footage was a bit shakey and most of the shots I took where still to show the damaged that has been done. The sound recorded was rubbish because of the windy weather so I would be using a song to go with final edit I am having trouble picking a song to suit the edit I have done.

Production Log- Trent and Dove, Tutbury- 05/10/2011

I planned ahead before filming by looking on the year two blog's page at which streets I would be needing to film and noted them down, I also noted down the possible problems within those areas.

When I arrived in Tutbury I started filming the state of the footpaths, the dead flowers, street sign's, things that have been vandalised such as street sign's, swings, fences and lamp post. As I was walking around filming I noticed that they are many places for people to sit but no benches for them to sit on which I found odd.

The weather was cloudy but it added a nice effect on the park with the swings moving and also when I was filming scenic shots of trees and bushes.

Production Log Heritage Video 28/09/2011

I started off by turning up at college and given some directions to the first interview, the directions were road directions and we needed walking directions, instead of following the map we used a mobile phones to get the location on time, I was worried when I was walking there because I was unsure where I was going and how far it was but when I got to the location I felt relieved that I got there on time.

After I met the first interviewer and introduce myself and got the equipment set up, I was surprised that I knew how to use the equipment after that I followed advice from my fellow crew which I listened to and did as they ask when they asked which made me feel that I was needed. I got the job role of the sound which I like because I have already used the zoom mic before so I know the best ways to use and place to mic.

When we have finished with the first interviewer  I started to listen to her husband talks about the comments he gets being married with her  but one of my team (Mark) went and had a talk with him to see what it was like to be married to a black women, he came up with some good story's which we then filmed an interview with him and his wife. This interview was not planned as but the information the husband gave was great and needed to be filmed.

By the end of the interview with the husband we only had a couple of hours to fit in the last interview of the day which we managed to do, one thing that did annoy me in that interview was the sound as the interview was filmed outside and sounds such as wind, bee's and cars driving past made it hard to hear but I got up closer with the interviewer and someone asked if she would mind repeating what she has just said. I felt that the sound was not good enough but I did the best I could do in that situation.

To sum my day up filming outside you have to be careful of where about you would film outside, for example filming near bushes and flowers is bad because of all the bee's and check the wind levels before recording which I did and im glad I did. All of the interviews went well we got the information we needed and the interviews did as we ask.
